In my experience DC coils are more common on PC mount relays, but this one is AC (which is common in heating and air conditioning) The contact rating refers to the voltage is is safe to switch with the contacts. Since AC voltage passes through zero each time it alternates there is an opportunity for arcs to extinguish, but for DC, if an arc is started it tends to keep going thus the DC voltage and or current rating is often significantly less. In this case the rating is 8A at 24VDC, but if you look at the data sheet under the electrical (contact) life specification (for resistive loads) they show a rating > 10^5 actuations @ 0.15A and 220VDC (compared to >10^5 @ 8A and 240VAC)
