Amateur Radio - aka Ham Radio - requires knowledge of basic electronics (and is a lot of fun if you are a techie who likes to get his hands dirty so to speak) Take a look at the hobby and see if it's something you might want to get into. For many electronic and electrical engineers, Ham Radio was a stepping stone into their professional careers. Once licensed - one of the many things you can do within the hobby is to build your own radios - either from scratch, or by purchasing kits.
