hoganenvy asked Why is my Mr. Slim Mini Split air conditioner not staying on?
Last year, we had 3 mini split Mr. Slim AC systems installed. The main unit is outside. The 3 units inside will turn on for a minute and blow out air and then turn off. The vane works and the controller functions all seem to work, then the unit's operation light blinks and the unit shuts off. This is on all 3 units. Everything seems in great shape, no debris anywhere. All of the filters are cleaned and were cleaned again just to make sure. The outside unit doesn't want to turn on at all, and I don't see a master power switch or anything. Please help...Thanks!
And got the following answer:
Sounds like a contactor or relay problem. Both are magnetic switches that require little power to turn on. There is two different contacts. One is the high power from your electrical panel, and the other is the contacts that are the a/c units. They use low power for safety and cheaper switchs. High current switchs are very expensive. The little power magnetically pulls the two together turning the unit on. Relays work for less than 10 amps opf current. Contactors are for 10 amps or more of current. or the wires are electrically loose. Turn off the circuit breaker and main disconnect by the a/c unit. After using a proxiamatey tester to verify there is no electricity, take a screw driver and make sure the screws are snug tight. Do not go gorilla tight. You can strip the screws or break them.
