Zigzag asked Recruited for a Division I school for track?
I am currently a senior in high school and beginning to apply for colleges. My question for you is if you think I am qualified to get an athletic scholarship for college. Here are my times as a junior: 400m: 51sec 800m: 2:00 Didn't run the 1600 or 3200 :/ 5k: 17:17 If you think I qualify for Division I please tell me how I would go about getting a scholarship. Thanks
And got the following answer:
That impressive numbers bro in 2007 when i was sophmore for lehman highschool in the bronx i ran 400m - 49.9 at penn relays for the first time my 800m was 2:02 my1 1600 was 4:37 my 3200 M was 10:19 and i was only a sophmore and was already a D1 prospect. but i broke my ankle and never ran those times again. As for you. Those times are good esp that 2 minute 800 , if u ran 2 min in 800 why didnt you run the mile ? you couldve ran a good 4:35 atleast because 4:30 is D1. Under 200 Minutes is D1 in the 800 as for the 400 m it 50 sec and under. So you can get a decent D2 scholarship which is half or go to a very very low D1 school. The only way of doing so is telling your coach to contact schools for you and also you ha ve to make a little profolio and send them with your application with your best times etc. BUT YOUR A JUNIOR coaches will look at your SENIOR year if you can run 49 offical in the 400 M and under 2 min in the 800 M and run atleast a 4:30 in the Mile and ATTEMPT to run the 3200 and do like a good 10:20 it will improve your resume. AND COACHES WILL BE COMING TO YOU ! once you run these times. and when it COMES TO D1 EVEN IF YOU HAVENT APPLY AND LETS SAY FOR EXAMPLE IT IS MARCH AND YOU DIDNT TO THE D1 SCHOOL THAT HAS INTEREST IN YOU THEY WILL FIND A WAY TO GET YOU IN IF THEY WANT YOU. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK ! I WISH I DIDNT HURT MY SELF I WAS ON MY WAY TO UCONN FLORIDA STATE KANSAS RUTGERS. I HOPE YOU MAKE IT TO D1 YOU DEF CAN DO IT YOUR RUNNING TIMES ARE PRETTY ATTRACTIVE MOST SCHOOLS ARE WAITING TO SEE IF YOU HAVE A BREAK OUT YEAR. YOU MUST IMPROVE. HOPE THIS HELPS !! GOOD LUCK !!!
