Andrew Kiernan asked How to wire a relay with a H bridge?
I am attempting to make a circuit which will control the direction of an electric DC motor please see http://i1304.photobucket.com/albums/s533/Andyrew_Kiernan/Drawing1_zpsc651af09.jpg However when powered the motor runs but when the normally open switch is pressed the motor stops were as I though it would run in reverse. Can anyone advise on the issue?
And got the following answer:
Why use a bridge when the relay will do the job by itself. The purpose of the H bridge is to control the direction of the motor via logic signals, where you don't want to use a relay. But anyway... The logic inputs to the H bridge need a pullup resistor, say 1k, if you are going to operate those with switches. edit: I mean pull down, as when there is no connection the inputs will float high. Pull downs don't work well, but 200 ohms may work. But I can't make sense of the switches. You have 3 different types of switches, are they all controlled by the relay? The larger switch shown seems to be a manual switch, and that is all you need, what does the relay do?
