Randy C asked Is my turn signal replay dead or is it the switch?
Good News: My left turn signal functions correctly. My emergency hazard lights work correctly. Bad News: My right turn signals will not work at all. No green arrows light up in the dash, no click click click sound, no lights flash or come on at all on the outside. Can replacing the turn signal relay solve this problem or does it sound like a switch problem? I drive a 2005 Honda Accord. Thanks!
And got the following answer:
The relay works for both sides, the signal goes through the relay, causing it to open and close a contact, thus making your lights flash. Since it is working on one side, the relay is okay. It could be a bad wire from the turn signal switch, under the steering wheel. The wires go up into the switch, and then back down, to their respective lights. Should probably one Hot wire going up to the switch, and then sending it through the switch, to whichever side you choose. Seeing as how they do NOT work for any light on the Right side, it has to be a wire coming OUT of the switch, to the lights ...or the switch itself, not making up the connection inside the switch, on thr rights side. When you turn your turn signal "on", a cam moves, causing the contacts to make contact and this then sends the power to the lights. Then the steering wheel moves the cam back, when you turn the steering wheel. The contacts then lose contact and the signal stops. I would try checking the wire coming down from the switch, to see if it has power when turned to the right. I don't know about 2005 Honda Accord setup. My sons 91 Dodge Dakota has a switch mounted to the outside of the steering wheel, making it easy to replace, without having to take off the steering wheel. With cars having Air Bags under the wheel, it could be dangerous to try to remove the wheel. Maybe you should have a shop look at it.
