Georgie asked My 1993 Acura Legend A/C or Heat doesn't work?
Whenever I turn my Acura Legend the A/C or Heat doesn't blow. And whenever the car sits in idle and the idle rpm goes bellow 1000 the check engine light turns on and the idle hesitates and sounds like a misfire. It's a 3.2 6 cylinder engine. Thanks!
And got the following answer:
First you need to check the code usually if you leave the key in the run position the engine light comes on for a few seconds then it goes out after it has done a scan on the systems. If the light stays on or suddenly comes on while in run position or while the engine is running that means the system has detected a problem.Key here is having the system scanned for error codes via the data port this will help you to know more about what has triggered the code. I'd say the heat and A/C problem is probably the blower motor failing or a fuse has gone that feeds the circuit and other then that it could be the blower motor resistor or module or a faulty wire, faulty ground, faulty switch.Checking the fuse boxes fuse charts or owners manual fuse/relay etc charts to locate what fuse is for the blower motor circuit. It's possible a sudden surge or weak circuit or weak ground or a sudden over draw on the circuit blew the fuse. For example the blower motor internal parts like the primary or secondary windings are over heating or shorting out, that would cause a over draw on the fuse and more then likely the fuse would blow. From there check the blower motor fuse to see if power is being detected at both ends of the fuse while the ignition is in run and the blower motor switch is on different settings.if fuse and fuse circuit is live then try the wires at the blower motor see if the motor is getting current and then check what feeds the motor like the resistor or module or switch etc. One thing that would give you a basic insight to the problem is having a diagram of the different circuits bec that way you'd be able to trace the problem. You can go by the error code for the basic diagnostic bec you never know what can cause or trigger other failers in such voltage sensitive computerized circuits.Basic key is if say you got to 2 different codes try to fix the first code first bec it maybe causing the second code or other problems. Hope that helps and best of luck.By the way if the engine lite is flashing this also tells you what circuits to check or test. The service manuals have the chart info for the mil codes and how to read the engine light flashes etc. There is some great trouble shooting info that can help to pin point the problems regardless what they are.Note a bad idle condition can come from a faulty coolant temperature sensor and if the idling stage of the system is messed up that will throw off how the ECM detects and the proper fuel/gas/spark conditions and how the whole engine tends to run in idle or drive etc.
