I am building a cooling device. I need to have coolant running through a water block on a peltier cooler.. I want to keep the coolant at about 5 degrees Celsius. The peltier will be around 350 watts and will have coolant running at around 14 psi over a short span of insulated tubing.. The heat source will produce aprox. 300 watts of heat but will vary depending on load. I have contemlated using a thermal switch and a relay to simply turn the peltier on and off as needed. If I can find no better solution that is what I'll be forced to do.. What I am hoping to find is a way to vary the temperature of the peltier dynamically. As it needs more power it will gain more power and as it needs less it the current will drop.. I know this is a simple thermostat but I'm hoping to do it all in dc current. I'm guessing this isn't that difficult and hope someone can help.. Thanks in advance. Davinchy

Use a temperature sensitive resistor in the feed back circuit of a DC regulator. The regulator would provide the Peltier with it's needed supply voltage. The temperature sensitive resistor could be the current limiter resistor of a zener diode, or in the adjustment circuit for one of the modern 3 terminal voltage regulators. The whole idea is that as the resistance of this resistor changes, it changes the voltage being supplied to the Peltier module.
